"His tunes jump from the garage to the sound of summer and the back porch, each bristling with energy and vivid images...The shift is remarkably sharp yet totally in character, a testament to the presence of a major tunesmith." ~Jim Caligiuri, Austin Chronicle. Over the years, Leatherbag has been an ever changing process in songwriting and performance. Reynolds and his newfound backing band The Pretty Tuffs are planning a new EP entitled 'Here Comes Change' this Janaury.
Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears "are an eight-piece outfit of twenty-something devotees of hard blues-funk. Fronted by young guitarist and soul shouter Joe Lewis, these talented newcomers on the Austin, Texas, music scene have unleashed one of the toughest, rawest funk EP's to come across this reviewers desk in many years. After thrilling audiences at the 2007 South-By-Southwest Music Festival and a recent West Coast tour with Spoon, Lewis and his crew impress on six screaming soul tracks that sound like a mix between James Brown, Lil' Joe Washington, and Sam Cooke. The entire setlist is uncompromising, undeniably funky stuff, and well-deserving of a wider listenership outside the Lone Star State." ~Roger Gatchet, Living Blues Magazine

The Continental Club
If you come to Austin, you must come to the Continental Club. This place is always listed on the top attractions of our city and once you come, you know why. This is the best music hall in town. The diversity of music and of the crowd alone make it worth the trip. The place is almost always packed - an atmosphere that adds to the experience. moreIf you come to Austin, you must come to the Continental Club. The diversity of music and of the crowd alone make it worth the trip. The place is almost always packed - an atmosphere that adds to the experience. There are places to sit, but more importantly for most people, there is space to dance. The cover charge ranges (usually between $5 to $10). I assure you though, the $10 is almost always worth it. They know the value of the show before they price it. However, if you just want to check out the place without paying a hefty cover charge, check out some of the free happy hour shows. Bottom line, don't miss out on a chance to see a show at the historic Continental Club. (1) vote | Was this any good? yes / no | leave a comment |
