To this end, our Team has embraced the following initiatives: Enlisting the Power of Music: We have begun production on a series of music CDs featuring popular recording artists presenting songs that address the trials of military service abroad and the challenges that our troops and their families face in their homecoming readjustments.
The initial 2 CD's features Texas artists and subsequent albums will feature artists from different parts of the country. The CD series will be offered for public sale to benefit the Welcome Home 501(c)(3) Project and consigned to veteran's organizations to raise money for their specific projects.
Additionally, the CD's will play a strategic role by highlighting veteran's issues and by launching a sophisticated benefit package powered by the vast wherewithal of America's private sector. Enlisting the Private Sector: The key component of our support system, the "Stateside Pact," is a collection of practical, no-strings-attached gifts and contributions supplied by a cross-section of our country's most respected business entities. Such gifts might include a cost-plus deal on a hybrid vehicle from one of Detroit's "Big Three," a new computer with free Internet service for a year or, on a regional level, a shopping credit at the H.E.B. grocery chain or a series of free oil changes from the local Quick Lube. The contributing companies, both large and small, will enjoy maximum brand exposure, share in an aggressive nationwide publicity campaign, and will participate in an authentic grassroots promotional effort. The Homecoming Card: The components of the Stateside Pact will be distributed through the "Homecoming Card"— a "discount-gift" card provided by a major financial institution. The digital card format allows for programming options whereby cards in different parts of the country reflect a region's goods and services while other cards might target the needs of specific veterans. The Homecoming Card brings large corporate sponsors and smaller regional businesses together in a partnership that heralds their respective brands while sending a message of national unity between the corporate boardroom and Main Street in a practical and immediate support network.
The National Tour: With Welcome Home CD's active in the marketplace and Homecoming Cards in the hands of our stateside veterans, we will launch a national concert tour designed to enhance CD and merchandise sales, to highlight the need for a concerted effort to address veteran's issues, and most importantly, to give our fellow citizens an opportunity to thank our military personnel publicly for their service.
The Tour will be a self-sufficient effort with custom vehicles designed for logistical support and will feature acts from the various CDs. We will work closely with our sponsors to maximize their brand enhancement by taking the momentum to large urban markets, smaller regional markets, and military installations. The tour is designed for a one-year run that will culminate with a gala concert and fundraising effort that we intend to develop as an annual event. Summary: The Welcome Home Team wants to retool the efficacy of veteran's care through the prism of 21st-century sensibilities, technologies, and the complicated realties of our contemporary international commitments.
We feel that the ultimate responsibility in this challenge—and by extension, the standard by which our country and our military advocates will be judged—rests with the support we render to our homecoming troops. Retaining our current troop levels and enticing future generations to serve depend in no small part on our ability as a people to take care of our own.
The Welcome Home Project, as we hope this brief assessment suggests, presents a unique opportunity to come together as a nation through individual and private sector initiatives to meet our moral responsibilities in supporting our military veterans.
