Stubb's outdoor stage is one of my favorite places to watch music in Austin. It's perfect for a band like Wilco where you get that excitement of large crowd, but still be intimate enough wherever you stand. The sound outdoors is usually excellent, and with the standing area being on a slight hill, you can almost always find a place with a good view of the stage.
As a bonus, you can stop in early and get some great BBQ (I like the beef ribs here). It's also pretty easy to park as there are a few free spots on 10th and 11th, but if you don't want to bother, there is a quick and easy parking lot across the street that always has spots for $5.
