The 5-year-old four-piece combo - led by beautifully flamboyant front woman, songwriter and lead vocalist Ruby Dee Philippa and master guitarist Jorge Harada, supported by Sean Hudson on electric bass and Kipp Crawford on drums and frequent guest artists onstage and in the studio - plays an Americana that encompasses Northwest alt-country, Texas honky-tonk, Bakersfield country, Memphis rockabilly, Western swing and good old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll.
Funk & blues-meisters The Greyhounds bring with them their own sound "based on old-school R&B, it incorporates elements of funk, blues, Seventies boogie, and the occasional noodling. With Trube, originally from Tyler, on guitar and Farrell on keys, Greyhounds bring to mind the organ jazz of the late, great Jimmy Smith. 'It's what we each bring to the table,' Trube adds. 'He [Farrell] brings the hip-hop and R&B stuff from growing up in L.A. I bring the blues, funky, soulful shit. I like to say we're like Hall & Oates meets ZZ Top'."
T-Bird & The Breaks are the new kids on this block, but they've already made quite an impression on us! We love their look, their sound & their energy. "T-Bird & the Breaks are old souls bringing serious R&B heat. The local 10-piece indulges the requisite Wilson Pickett and Sly & the Family Stone covers but is at its best pounding out originals by dynamic frontman Tim Crane, a slick-haired, gravel-voiced shouter in the mold of blue-eyed Texas soul sensation Roy Head." ~Thomas Fawcett, the Austin Chronicle
